Medically Supervised Boarding

For those times when you need to leave for a few days and can’t bring your pet along, Dutchess County Animal Hospital offers peace-of-mind, medically supervised boarding services. Please keep in mind that boarding space is limited, and preference is given to existing clients. It’s also important to note that because we do not have the space and staff capacity to adequately exercise our guests for extended stays. Stays should be no longer than 7-10 days. Please keep this in mind when planning your vacation.

Although we do not require it, we do recommend bringing your pet’s regular food from home. Sudden changes in diet, combined with the stress of boarding, can cause digestive problems in any pet. If your pet develops digestive upset while here, however, you can take comfort in knowing that we will treat the problem accordingly – your companion will be in excellent hands during his or her stay!

Boarding guests are required to be current on all necessary vaccinations (rabies, distemper, bordetella for dogs, and rabies and distemper for cats). We will be happy to vaccinate your pet if a current vaccine certificate is not available. We also maintain a “flea-free” policy within our boarding area. If evidence of fleas is found on your pet, we will apply a flea preventive product such as Advantage, to manage the problem. Owners will be responsible for any costs incurred for vaccines, flea prevention, or medical care deemed necessary while boarding in our facility.

Traveling is stressful enough. Let us take some of the worry out with our boarding services. Call today to learn more!
